Most people that know me well know that I never doing anything halfway. Five years ago I didn’t drink. At all. I remember sneaking a sip of my father’s rum and coke as a youngster, and being reminded of that horrible red cold medicine that children of the 70’s are all too familiar with.
Then one night, I went out with some friends to a martini bar. A week later, I had become an amateur mixologist. My new home bar was stocked with glassware, shakers, recipe books, and liqueurs of every colour of the rainbow.
Updating our clinic website was a similar experience. After I requested photos of your babies (and they came POURING in), I was in heaven trying to piece together a website that would be visually appealing, entertaining to read, and maybe even a tad educational. I was quite pleased with how it all turned out, and received many lovely compliments from my clients. This is always a happy thing.
And so I decided to keep going and created a clinic Facebook page. Apparently, everyone that is ANYONE has a Facebook page. According to veterinary marketing gurus, if you’re not savvy with the kids and social media, then your practice will die a slow and painful death. That would be sad.
Our Facebook page began two months ago, and is slowly gathering a following consisting of more than just my mother and sisters. (Keep an eye out for the flurry of “likes” our postings get when my mother logs on…) Â So I thought everything was just hunky-dory, until I started getting emails from the veterinary management gurus again. Apparently, I have to start blogging now…
And so I’m blogging. In the coming weeks, months, and hopefully years, I will do my very best to share a little bit of our lives here at Yorkville Animal Hospital, whilst simultaneously trying to amuse, enlighten, and otherwise entertain you. Who knows. We may even learn something.
Great start! I look forward to reading some more.
Great name for the blog, by the way…
Thanks John! It is an awesome name, isn’t it 😉 Thanks so much for the suggestion!
