Dealing with end of life issues is undoubtedly the hardest part of our job, and the most difficult time in a pet owner’s dealings with his or her veterinarian. As veterinarians, we are extremely fortunate to have the ability to do the ultimate kindness for our patients — to end their needless suffering.
When all other options have been explored, and we know that a pet is not going to get better, then this is the kindest and most unselfish thing that we can do for them.
Sometimes, it is extremely difficult to know when “the right time” has come, especially when dealing with chronic conditions. Pets will have some good days, and some bad days, and the decision of when to euthanize can be a devastating one for the entire family.
We are here to listen to you, and to help you with that decision. We will never make the decision for you, but will work together with you to help you in making the most humane and loving choice for your pet.
