Microchip Identification
Microchipping has become a very popular and safe way to permanently identify your pet in the unfortunate case that he or she is lost. Microchipping involves the injection of a small electronic chip the size and shape of a grain of rice just under the skin in the back of the neck.
This procedure is extremely quick, and relatively painless (about the same as a vaccination injection). Collars can fall off and tattoos can fade. Microchip, like diamonds, are forever.
All humane societies, animal shelters, and veterinary clinics have special scanners that are used to scan for the presence of a microchip. If a stray animal is found and a microchip is present, then one phone call is all it takes to identify the owner and get Fluffy back home.
